The project of the Stu-Dance-Reverse-Dance Festival realized in 1998 was the first important positive step towards the new dance art development in Odessa. It was aimed at top issues of new dance in Ukraine. For the first time a number of leading new dance teams, musicians and contemporary artists worked together under general idea. The representation of different trends in new dance is an event for professionals and interested in audience. The live performances, video-actions, lectures, master-classes were included in the Program. Classically educated artists showed that they care able to overcome traditions. They just need to have contacts with somebody, who suggests new tendencies. The second step was realized in spring 1999. Then a number of alternative dance teams and theatre style teams were involved in the workshop. The students' and professional artists' admiration allowed dancers to show technical methods as well as to train in searching for individual plastic forms. And results are obvious. The master-classes by well-known specialists were both exciting and useful for the students of dance schools, artists of Opera and Ballet House and Center for Choreographic Art. The famous French dancer Didier Theron and his ballet team were invited to this festival. Generally, Festival brought great emotional impulse, new ideas and creative contacts. The second festival fixed the results of the first one and brought new emotions, creative ideas and activity to the specialists, students and all interested in people. The reason to bring into being one more new-dance workshop is that we have to strengthen and to develop the success. We can't allow the results to be lost. This Third festival of new dance will include workshops and a conference and will be featured by the participants of East-European dancers, musicians and artists. The aim of the project is to let develop new forms of plastic art and visual practices in Ukraine. The main idea of the workshop is to unite the contemporary dance, visual art and new music. It is not something novel, but it is really top issue in Ukraine. The project will provide information about new art tendencies, enrich the cultural exchange between participating countries, let emerge joint artistic projects.
