Biography:

Born on 11 March 1964 in Saratov (Russia). She graduated as a pianist from Sympheropol Musical College (Ukraine) in 1983 and as a composer from Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Conservatoire (now Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Musical Academy) under Prof. O.Krasotov in 1990.
Since 1991 she teaches composition at Odessa State A.V.Nezhdanova Conservatoire. She was awarded the 1st Prize of the Ukrainian Republican Composers S.Prokofiev Competition (1993), the 3rd Prize of the International Women Composers’ Competition (Kiev, Ukraine, 1995), visited the Gaudeamus Foundation International Composers’ Workshop (Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 1994).
In 1995 she was awarded a fellowship by the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London). In 1996 she received the MMus Postgraduate Degree with distinction in composition (under Prof. R. Saxton, City University, London). Whilst at GSMD she won six composition prizes including W.Lutoslawski Prize, two of her pieces were published by GSMD as a compulsory element of the audition process. In 1997 she won the Overseas Research Students Award for a reading for the degree of PhD in the Composition at the University of Sussex (UK).
She participated in many international festivals in Ukraine, Russia, Moldova, Armenia, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and Great Britain, including International Festival of Modern Art “Two Days and Two Nights of New Music” (Odessa, Ukraine, annual since 1997) and the ISCM “World Music Days” (2000, 2002).
Her commissions include: the ballet “Jane Eyre” by the London Children's Ballet (premiered at the Wimbledon Theatre in May 1997), “From the Bottom of the Soul” - string quartet by the Yggdrasil Quartet from Sweden (Spitalfields Festival, London, 1997), “Waiting” by Sarah Walker and Malcolm Martineau (Wigmore Hall, London, 1997/1998 season), “The Divine Sarah” opera-scene by Sarah Walker (Mayfield Festival, 2000), “Zig-Net-Zag” and “Seven Touches” by the Ensemble Klangheimlich (Berne and Zurich, Switzerland, their 1999/2000 concert programmes), “The Riot” for Wind Orchestra by the GSMD Festival (London, 2001), “Out of Gravitation” by the Ensemble Amaltea (Switzerland, 2001).
Her compositions have been published by GSMD (London, UK), by Duma Music Inc. (New York, USA), Micropress (UK) and produced on CDs. She has recordings on the BBC Radio 3 and on the New European Radio.
She is a member of the Ukrainian Composers’ Union, Association New Music (Ukrainian ISCM section) and British Academy of Composers and Song Writers.
