Biography: Born on May 5, 1936 in Odessa (Ukraine). In 1959 he graduated from the Odessa State A.Nezhdanova Conservatoire, where he studied: composition with T.Maljukova, piano with B.Charkovs'kyi, and musicology with Prof. A.Kogan. In the same year he started lecturing at Odessa State A.Nezhdanova Conservatoire, now - Professor of Composition. His work includes operas, symphonies, concerts, oratories, cantatas, musicals, a lot of chamber music, theatre music, jazz music and songs.
From 1966 he has been a member of the Ukrainian Composers' Union. Laureate of the Regional E. E. Bagryts'kyi Prize (1967), All-Ukrainian Competition in Kyiv (1967, 1971, 1983), International competitions (Berlin, 1973; Tokio, 1992). Honoured in Art of Ukraine (1987).
Now he works as Invited Professor of Composition at the Conservatoire of Music in Tianjin (China).
